Rendering
External Rendering
Outside work carried to the same standard as the inside — sand and cement, monocouche and silicone through-colour render on houses, extensions and garden walls.

In short
- —Silicone through-colour & monocouche systems
- —Sand and cement scratch, float and pebbledash
- —Render repairs, crack stitching and beading
Render systems we work with
Silicone through-colour render gives a breathable, self-cleaning, low-maintenance face with colour right through the coat, so chips do not show white. Monocouche is a one-coat through-colour system scraped back to an even texture. Traditional sand and cement is still the right answer on some older properties, finished float, scratch or pebbledash.
Repairs, cracks and re-render
Blown, cracked or hollow render is cut out, the background stabilised, beads and stop ends replaced and the area re-rendered. Where the whole elevation is tired it is usually cheaper long term to strip and re-render than to patch repeatedly.
Detailing that keeps it dry
Bell casts, drips, stop beads at DPC, movement joints and proper reveals around windows are what stop staining and cracking later. They are set up before any render goes on the wall.
How the job runs
01
Survey
Elevations checked for hollow render, damp, movement and DPC levels.
02
Scaffold and prep
Access set, wall prepared, old render removed where needed, beads fixed.
03
Basecoat
Reinforced basecoat with mesh over the wall and around openings.
04
Topcoat
Through-colour topcoat applied and textured, or traditional float and scratch finish.
05
Strike and clean
Beads pointed, scaffold struck and the site cleared.
Common questions
How long does render take to cure?
Basecoats generally need a few days before the topcoat, and the finished render continues to cure for several weeks.
Do you render over pebbledash?
Often yes, if it is sound — otherwise it is removed and the wall re-rendered from the background up.
Will render stop damp?
Correctly detailed render sheds water, but it is not a cure for rising damp or a failed DPC. We will say if something else needs fixing first.
